12 Things You Can Do To Feel Better Right Away

12 Things You Can Do To Feel Better Right Away

It’s OK to have feelings.  God has feelings.  We are created in His image so we can have them too.  Of course we don’t only go by our feelings, because sometimes we need to stand on facts and the truth that God reveals to us as well.  But never forget that we are human beings created in the image of a wonderful God who passionately loves and adores us – with emotion.

Since we are not God, sometimes our feelings don’t represent what is actually true.  That is why we need to encourage others and sometimes that means encouraging ourselves with truth . . . the truth of God’s Word.  Here are a few things we can do right now to encourage ourselves (and others also).

1.  Get yourself in the Lord’s presence.

Psalm 16:11 . . . in your presence there is fullness of joy . . .

2.  Praise Him for the great things He has done already.

Psalm 126:3 The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.

3.  Remember His promises.

Psalm 126:5 Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!

4.  Speak words of kindness.

Proverbs 16:24  Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

5.  Place your trust in God.

Isaiah 12:2    I will trust in him and not be afraid. The LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”

6.  Keep Jesus on the throne of your heart.

Psalm 144:15   . . . Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!

7.  Submit your hopes, plans, and dreams to Him.

Psalm 37:5   Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.

8.  Stand firm and don’t go backwards.

Galatians 5:1   For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

9.  Be happy even when people persecute you for following Jesus.

Luke 6:22-23   What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. 23  When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.

10.  Stay positive.

Proverbs 17:22   A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.

11.  Maintain your friendships and ask them to pray for you.

3 John 1:2   Dear friend, I pray that you may prosper in every way and be in good health physically just as you are spiritually.

12.  Always look to Jesus.

Matthew 11:28-30   Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Notice how Jesus didn’t say: “rest for your spirits” He said: “rest for your souls.”  Our soul (along with our body) is the part of us that gets weary, discouraged, and empty.

In John 10:10 Jesus says: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Psalm 23:5  doesn’t say: “I have to turn my cup upside down and wait for a micro-drip to fall,” it states God’s intention for us: “my cup overflows.

Please don’t live your life hovering in the red line just above empty when
He has made a way for you to be full and living the abundant life!

Love You Guys,

Steve 🙂

How about leaving a comment and add a favorite encouragment builder of your own!

OK . . . one more:

13.  Gather together this weekend at Westside (and bring a friend who needs) to hear a timely message on encouragement – which is actually one of Jesus’ commands: “Be Encouraged.”  You’ll be glad you did!
