You Know Your Future

Does knowing your future change how you live today?

If you knew you were going to receive a large bonus at work tomorrow, would you be more likely splurge on something like dinner out or a gift for the kids today?

If you knew you’d be bitten by a poisonous spider in the garage next week, would you call pest control – or at least spray the heck out of your garage – today?

If you knew a loved one would pass away suddenly within the next month, would you make things right between you and them today?

If you knew the world was going to end in six months, would you still spend so much time online or on your phone?

Here’s the big one:

What if you knew the date of your death?
What would you do differently?
The Bible says we all have an appointment with death.
Not a very pleasant thought I know . . . but it’s true.

None of us makes it out of planet earth alive . . .

I know – I know . . . we’d all go nuts if we had to live every day like it was our last.
  • But some of us live like we are NEVER going to die.
  • We spend our lives on meaningless pursuits.
  • We never make things right with our loved ones.
  • And most of all, we don’t live for Jesus and His Kingdom like we know we should!

We don’t have the energy to live life in a full on sprint like we would if tomorrow was our last day.

  • But, what if we lived our life like this was our last “year”?
  • Or, like today “could” be our last?
  • Or, like we wanted to make our life count for the Kingdom using our talents, gifts, and strength to bless others and bring glory to God?

Sure, we can’t live life sprinting toward the finish line each and every day for very long and remain effective . . . but we can be steady, faithful, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Life is like a marathon and it will last until we take our last breath and immediately wake up in His presence.

You can do it . . . I know you can!

Love you guys . . .

Steve  : )

Philippians 1:3-6

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. 4 Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, 5 for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. 6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Thanks Steve for the insight. Patt and I are reading in Ecclesiastes at this time and what came to mind is (everything under the sun is meaningless), without God, in our lives.

    Thank you!
I’m coming close to understanding that it is not about me or what I want but; about doing everything in obedience for the lord.

Awesome reminder and a great message to massage into our lives. We can’t sustain a sprint but we MUST stay in the race! Miss you Westside family❣️

Thanks Steve. Going to work on reminding myself to listen more to the Holy Spirit so His words are what flow through me. So I can be effective during this marathon.
