I’m Gonna Vote For . . .

I’m gonna vote for . . .
PLEASE don’t get caught up in this one saints! The Bible says that “heaven and earth will pass away but My Word will not pass away.”

Nations rise and fall. Empires rise and subside. Kingdoms and their kings fade from memory. The constant in this universe is THE WORD OF GOD. It will stand forever. Not one part will be taken away. In fact, the Word of God holds all things together (Heb 1:3 & Col 1:17)

Now, don’t get me wrong. I think that every Believer:

  • should be a good citizen
  • should vote in every election open to them
  • should represent Jesus faithfully in this world

I also believe that if God has called you into the political arena,

  • then you should do it with all your strength
  • while depending on His power and presence
  • to fulfill your calling.
  • (this is also true for whatever calling God has given you)
But for most of us,
we have too much to do for His Kingdom
to get caught up in arguments that (if Jesus tarries)
will mean very little a hundred years from now.

The work we have now will keep us busy enough:

  • We have a mandate to share the good news in our sphere.
  • We have the commandment to make disciples.
  • We have jobs with which to earn a living.
  • We have children to raise up who will become authentic Christ followers.
  • We have family and friends in our local church to love and serve by using our God given talents and gifts.
  • We have husbands to respect and wives to love.
  • We have to keep our cars running and our homes in repair as good stewards of God’s resources.
  • We have to take care of own bodies so we can effectively serve the Lord for the long haul.

We don’t have time to spend arguing about temporal issues while simultaneously putting up possible barriers to sharing the Gospel with our co-workers, neighbors, and family.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus as Paul, the great apostle said. Let us keep eternity in mind
since God has seen fit to put it in our hearts.

But, at the same time, let’s love and serve our neighbors with everything we’ve got . . . and we’ve got Jesus!

So . . . be good citizens . . . in this world AND in the Kingdom of God!

Love you guys,

Steve 🙂

The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”  Isaiah 40:8

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.  Matthew 24:35

  3. Chuck theuring says:

The true understanding of how God uses us should solidify how to navigate through this world and the resources he provides. Still hard sometimes. Thanks Steve for the help to see things through His eyes.

Hey, my brother. I think it is very important to remember that our country (USA) is still the greatest force for good in the world. If she weren’t you wouldn’t have the support of the many Christians in this country to make the tremendous ministry that you have possible. for this reason alone I think our politics deserves much more attention than it gets from our clergy. As a nation that was founded on Godly principles we have the responsibility to our selves and our children and grand children to do everything we can to keep those Godly principles alive.

I think as Christians we have nobody to blame but ourselves for the moral decline in our country. As a whole we didn’t get involved in Hollywood, look what we got. We didn’t get involved in politics as we should have, look what we got and some how we let our education system be over run godless teachers and professors. The news media, full of godless people putting forth their agenda across the air waves and cable. These are the places where the Gospel should be shining, the greatest sphere’s of influence in our society.
Sadly we dropped the ball many years ago. Think about it one woman was able to get prayer and the bible out of our schools. Where were we?
    With Love ,
    your brother,
    Paul
