Go Into All The World

Mark 16:15 says – Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Many of us have gone on ministry trips to other regions, states and countries. I have been to Mexico a few times on ministry trips with our church and they have always been a great experience. When we go God begins to change our heart and perspective for his people. A little over a year ago God began to stir in my heart the desire to do something new, to go somewhere I haven’t been before, to go out of my comfort zone. As I began to pray about where God was leading me, doors began to open for us to partner with City On A Hill church in South Africa.

A little over two weeks ago three of us set off for our trip to South Africa. We spent over 30 hours of travel time just to get there. We arrived safely at our destination. We were hungry – tired – and looking forward to what God would do. The first few days of our trip we spent time with Resonate church in Potch. We had the privilege of ministering to their college group, we attended a small-group, and we hosted a church service in the park for the homeless. Kylie had the privilege of sharing at their women’s night, and we spent some time ministering in a nearby township. We prayed for many people and were able to encourage many more. God did so much in our hearts and this was only our third day on the ground.

The second leg of our trip we went to Klerksdorp where we partnered with some people from City On A Hill church. We spent some time doing outreaches with a local church in one of the townships. We prayed for so many people in the two days we spent  there. We prayed for many marriages, jobs, hurting families, and illnesses. People there are so open to God moving in their lives, for most of them they have no other choice. We saw many miracles while we were there. Among them, we saw a woman healed of pain from arthritis, a man who was blind in one eye had is sight restored, and we saw many people released from oppression. The story that sticks out in my mind the most is of a young boy. This little boys friends brought him up for prayer. We were informed that he was deaf and mute since birth and they asked us to pray for him. A few members of our team began to pray for him, while the rest of our team we praying for many others. The next thing I new the crowd was cheering because this little boy was on the microphone speaking! He was known in the community and there was so much excitement that he was able to speak. Our team prayed for over a hundred people that night.

God continued to use us and speak to us for the rest of our trip. He even had opportunities for us to encourage others while in the airport on our way home. I am so encouraged and amazed to see God move in ways I have never seen before. When we say “yes” to God and we walk in obedience he uses us in ways we do not expect. I want to encourage you that even if you don’t travel to another country, God has still called us to go. He has called us to pray for the clerk at the grocery store. He has called us to encourage that lonely lady who lives across the street. He has called us to tell that coworker just how much Jesus cares for them.

God has done so much in my heart. The most important is that he has filled me with an expectancy to see him move. Not just while I’m in another country, but everywhere I go. It is important for all of us to remember what God has called us to. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Acts ‭1:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬.

Whether we are at home, or in another country it is important to remember that God has a job for us to do. I am so excited for what God has in store, and I look forward to the next opportunity to say yes.
