Steady

There’s something to be said about being steady.  You know . . . purpose, resolve, persistence, determination, grit, resolution, tenacity.  I remember when Teri went to law school and and she discovered how difficult it was.  Early on, one of her professors told the class that only a third of them would graduate.  He said it wasn’t the smartest ones that would finish – it would be the ones with tenacity that would succeed.  She told herself:

“Okaaaay  . . . I’m tenacious . . . I can DO this!”

Later on in her first semester she was overwhelmed and on the verge of defeat.  It was then that she requested prayer from the pastors.  As we prayed over her she knew in God that He had called her to law school.  She would simply take one day at a time and trust that He would see her through.

She would do everything she could

and trust God for the rest.

Steadiness and tenacity are closely related to faithfulness:

Faithfulness:

  • being true to one’s word, promises, vows,
  • being steady in allegiance or affection;
  • loyal;
  • constant:.

How is your steadiness?

How is your faithfulness?

Paul, the apostle, told us to entrust the church to faithful people.

What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men (and women) who will be able to teach others also.  2 Timothy 2:2 (ESV)

Sure, we need to be equipped, skilled, knowledgeable and things like that.  But the quality Paul was looking for was faithfulness.

Faithfulness will see you through to the finish line.

There is no “quit” in faithfulness.

Question:  How does one remain steady and faithful?

Answer:     By staying connected to Jesus!

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.  John 15:5 (NLT)

When you fix your eyes on Jesus, when He is your goal, you won’t go off track and miss the prize.

Stay steady friends.

Stay close to Jesus.

Remain in Him.

Abide in Him.

Stay connected to His body

(the church) and you’ll bear fruit!

Love you Guys,

Steve :)

P.S.  I’m preaching about this on Sunday: a great testimony of God’s faithfulness when we “Remain In Him”

    love all these positive words. Faithfulness in what God has orchestrated can be a challenge. We just need to continuously call on Him. Thank for the reminder once again Steve.

    This is exactly what our Lord is looking for: “hearts that are wholly His”2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him
    If we aren’t committed for the ‘long haul’ we will soon discover that the short haul will soon lead us to the stresses that tempt us to take the exit hall and we’ll be ‘out of the game’ because we can’t take the heat.
