but . . .
. . . they did find a small tumor in my pancreas . . .
I will be having surgery in December to remove 30-40% of my pancreas and all of my spleen. The tumor is not considered cancer yet – but they are convinced it will be. I’m not looking forward to surgery but, here is what the doctor said to me:
“You are a lucky man. Most guys like you
I see 5 to 7 years after this stage . . .
and by then it’s too late.”
After I went back to my primary care doctor she said:
“Thank God for the bump.”
Here is the verse that’s been going through my mind lately: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Rom 8:28 This is the verse my dad preached on the Sunday before he cut three fingers off on a radial arm saw:
- As my grandma drove him to the hospital, my dad watched the growing pool of blood on the floor. He kept repeating: “all things work together for the good of those who love God . . .”
This is the verse my sister heard after their car was totaled on the freeway.
- She had prayed that morning that God would protect her family. My brother in law has stopped to help on older lady who ran out of gas and my sister just happened to see them. She got off the next exit and came back around and parked behind them while my brother-in-law was filling the gas. Another car (with drunk driver inside) came from behind and rear ended them. If she hadn’t been there, the drunk driver would have killed my brother-in-law. My sister heard from the Lord: “all things work together for the good of those who love God . . .”
- “all things work together for the good of those who love God . . .”
This is the verse that many other Believers have quoted at injustice, pain, broken dreams, and the loss of a loved one:
- “all things work together for the good of those who love God . . .”

Has God brought you through a difficult season that you couldn’t really wrap your head around or know the reason for?
Come on now . . . let’s say it:
“all things work together for the good
of those who love God”
Teri and I certainly love you all and count it an honor to serve you at Westside Church and the churches beyond our region. We praise God for our families and friends everywhere who love God and live to honor Jesus. We are so grateful . . . Love you guys, Steve 🙂

- I go in for a procedure the day before surgery on December 12th in San Francisco to “mark” the tumor.

Randy and I have been praying daily as you requested that the spot on your pancreas will be gone when they send the scope down. “All things work together…” is probably my favorite verse in the Bible, and I believe in it wholeheartedly.

We are gathering with others to pray circles around you. Thank you for sharing this blog! I wasn’t going to read it because I’d already heard you talk about this at church, but I’m so glad I did! We are grieving the loss of our 5th grandchild,(born stillborn) we don’t understand why, but we stand on this verse! Praying fo words to comfort our kids who are going through this.

God turned my husbands prostate cancer from “aggressive” to non-aggressive without any kind of treatment. I am praying He will again glorify Himself through this trial. Yes, all things DO work for good.

Yes, “all things work together for the good of those who love God….” How great we have been and continually being made aware of this truth, along with witnessing the characteristics of our Father in His faithfulness, His consistency, His patience, His trustworthiness, His love, in our time of infertility and with the loss of our little one. He is the peace that surpasses all understanding…. We pray that you may know and feel these things in this season; standing firmly in His peace. We pray that you will be surrounded by wise and skillful doctors and surgeons for when God’s glory pours down with the discovery of the sudden disappearance of the tumor and bulge!
